Club Culture

“Club” is a loose term with a number of definitions. Club Obiwan is all about music. Our outlook is not constricted by pigeon holes. In Obiwan you can enjoy the whole spectrum, every imaginable groove and sound is here to be experienced. Digital/analogue bleeps, wailing guitars, through to rugged beats, wigged out funk, smoothed out soul, and nappy, dubbed, riddims.

Authenticity and musical integrity are Obiwan’s top priority. In times of ‘Mc™’ music we are focused on the idea of music lovers, delivering music to fellow music lovers. Currently our roster includes DJ’s from the UK, Italy, Germany, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and of course the mainland. This diverse selection provides a unique musical experience, which you more than likely have yet to find in another venue in Beijing.

The Sound

Obiwan’s dancehall has been designed by party people, to give our guests the perfect experience. Revellers groove to the finest tunes in Beijing, whilst DJs rock out in a comfy working environment, tailored to their specific needs. Our complete sound system is imported and configured for optimum performance. Come, try swimming in a sea of low end, without that all too common roaring and shredding.

Our double 18” JBL subwoofer is designed for that 808 bass ‘boom’, and the 15” JBL tops are installed flying, to make sure your favourite crooner’s voice will still be crystal clear, even when the dance floor is packed. All this is backed up by a discrete but powerful Yamaha amp, and controlled via a state-of-the-art driver rack, to ensure top quality sound. We give more bounce to the ounce, without that mandatory carnage on your shell likes… a quality appreciated by all discerning dancers.

The second floor lounge is equipped with JBL active speakers. In addition to this, both floors are equipped for DJ’s to spin their 33’s and 45’s on the timeless Technics 1200’s, which are rapidly becoming dinosaur in other venues.

The Light

It is impossible to have that classic disco daze ambience, without a mirror-ball. For this reason, Obiwan’s creative control, take painstaking care in using lighting to set the mood. It is all there; the old-school par64s, disco-ball and moonflowers, and of course the contemporary lighting staples; lasers, strobes and moving heads. All you need to stay alive….
