The story starts with a group of distinguished people sitting around a Feuerzangenbowle. They start discussing the pranks and fun they had at school when it turns out that one of them, Dr Johannes Pfeiffer (played by Heinz Rühmann), didn't attend a public school and never experienced these joys with his private teacher. In the mood brought about by the drink, they decide that the famous author is to be sent to a small town and to go to school there for some time. After changing his hair-style and shaving off his beard, Heinz Rühmann looks quite like the other pupils, which is rather surprising since he was 42 years old when the film was made. So Dr Pfeiffer attends this school, plays all the pranks and has an enormous amount of fun while also falling in love with a pupil from the nearby girls' school.

When a bar owner discovers that one of his employees is having an affair with his wife, a complex web of deceit and double crosses ensues in a small Texas town. The Coen brothers' first movie is an intricately plotted film noir filled with surprises at each turn. The cast, largely unknown at the time, includes Dan Hedaya, Frances McDormand as the cheating wife, John Getz as the adultering bartender, and the fabulously creepy M. Emmett Walsh as the slimy, sweaty private detective who should not be trusted. The film is a marvel to experience; director of photography Barry Sonnenfeld has created stunning compositions filled with open spaces, and the sound--from the slightest footsteps or dripping water to a sudden shotgun blast--reverberates ominously, as if it is a character unto itself. Blood Simple is a calculating round of double and triple crosses that build to a bloodcurdling, surprise-filled climax.

A show that you don't just watch, you experience. Come and join the Glendale High School's Class of 1958 in a night to remember, with a live band, swing dancers, and flesh-eating zombies! Death Prom features the collaborative efforts of different international performing groups in Beijing and is held in conjunction with a Halloween party at Block 8.
We still need actors and dancers to play prom-goers (jocks, geeks, cheerleaders, rebels) and zombies!!
Our grand-finale is recreating Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance.

The talk will be one of popular science and philosophy which explores the cutting edge theories of human intelligence and consciousness. It also presents a new construct of intelligence – integrated intelligence, or the concept that intelligence contains spiritual and transpersonal potentials not currently recognised in mainstream intelligence theory.
About the speaker:
Marcus T. Anthony is one of Australasia’s most innovative and prolific futurists. He has a strong passion for exploring the future, especially in regard to human intelligence, learning and education. He has a PhD in Policy Studies (focusing upon intelligence in modern education) from Australia’s University of the Sunshine Coast, and has written extensively in academic books and journals about learning, intelligence and the future. Dr Anthony is well known in the field of Critical Futures Studies, and is a member of the World Futures Studies Federation. He is also a member of the Darwin Project Council.
Dr Anthony is the author of the book Integrated Intelligence (Sense Publishers, Copenhagen), and has also written many newspaper, magazine and internet articles. In addition, he speaks publically on these subject matters at both academic conferences and in public seminars.

This is an Open Air event, in case of bad weather the movie is presented on the 1st floor.
A two-segment story that follows young men from the start of recruit training in the Marine Corps to the lethal cauldron known as Vietnam. The first segment follows Joker, Pyle and others as they progress through the hell of USMC boot-camp at the hands of the colorful, foul-mouthed Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. The second half shows one of those recruits, Joker, covering the war as a correspondent for Stars and Stripes, focusing on the Tet offensive.

Wanda (Jamie Lee Curtis) brings her new secret lover, Otto (Kevin Kline) to England to help her and her lover George and stuttering animal lover Ken (Michael Palin) steal $20 million in diamonds. Wanda and Otto then turn in George to the police so they can have the loot for themselves, but George has already moved the diamonds and only he knows where they are. All four of the criminals start double-crossing each other to try to get to the diamonds before anyone else. Wanda tries to find them by "getting close" to George's barrister, Archie Leach (John Cleese), because if George pleads guilty he will tell Archie where the diamonds are to cut his sentence.
